Department of Pharmacology:
Department of Pharmacology in SAHARA Medical College is recognized for highly skilled teaching. It is well equipped with laboratory and museum. The laboratory contains high tech equipment which is used to observe the effects of different drugs on different organs in animals (Experimental Pharmacology). It forms the basis of research for students and prepares them to treat different diseases by using drugs. There is a museum (containing old herbs to modern medicines) and a lecture theater for conducting lectures and tutorials.
SMC is highly suitable to impart undergraduate medical training in Pathology as it has a fully developed infrastructure along with FCPS qualified consultant pathologists in all the subspecialties to impart necessary training. The department includes Chemical Pathology, Endocrinology, Hematology, Blood Bank, Histopathology, Cytology, and Microbiology & Immunology along with Clinical Pathology Sections. Human resource includes five consultant Pathologists supported by a highly trained and committed lab team. The Lab is managed through custom made Lab Info System (LIS) and has automation and induction of sophisticated technologies and equipment. Establishment of a pathology museum in the college is a new addition which contains a large number of specimens. The museum has been established under the direct guidance and supervision of the head of department, who is a renowned personality in the field of Pathology. “SAHARA diagnostic Services” had already been launched in October, 2009 with the aim to generate revenue to support the healthcare project of “Sughra Shafi Medical Complex-Narowal” for the rural population of the country through the provision of quality diagnostic facilities at the compatible market rates. SAHARA Diagnostic Laboratory is state of the art, highly automated equipment, fully computerized and professionally run facility. Currently, more than 50 collection centers have been established in various cities of Pakistan.
